Milkyway shining high and bright above Capitol Peak as seen from the summit of K2. This image was a bit of luck mixed with a lot of effort! The original intent was to climb Capitol Peak before sunset and bivy on the summit of Capitol to shoot sunrise from the summit; however, once we crested the summit of K2 we were short on energy and time - so we decided to stay on the summit of K2 and get a quick nap in. Luckily, we awoke at 3:00 a.m. and the milky way was lined up perfectly over Capitol! Shortly after shooting we began our climb and summit Capitol around 5:00 a.m., just before sunrise. An unforgettable trip!
